One of my all time favorite books, American Psycho, by Bret Easton Ellis may be coming to Broadway. The fact that playwrights are so desperate that they use something as classic and completely NOT musical worthy as American Psycho for a Broadway show, makes me really think people have gone crazy. Who is going to see this? Absolutely no one. And I pity the poor tourists who venture into this show accidentally and are swarmed with “Hip to Be Square” sung by some muscular gay man with an ax.
“No director, book writer or songwriters have yet been brought on board the project, but producers say they’re in early talks with some potential dramatists and hope to stage by 2010 with an eye for Broadway. Musical killers have had mixed success on stage, from the acclaimed “Sweeney Todd” and tepidly received “Assassins” to the disastrous “Carrie.”
